TMG Chief Financial Officer

With an undergraduate degree in Accounting & Finance from Bradley University and an MBA in Finance from Southern Illinois University, TMG Chief Financial Officer Mark Goestenkors couldn’t be better positioned to oversee and optimize the organization’s financial health. Mark’s corporate career highlights include 18 years as the CFO of Wetterau Builders, Inc., and 24 years as CFO and Vice President of Operations of Red E Mix, LLC.

The Lighter Side

In getting to know Mark, we discovered that he’s an avid golfer, is generous with his time in helping others to succeed, and is keen to revisit Hawaii.

When you’re not at work, what’s your favorite pastime?
I really enjoy playing golf and staying informed about current events. After years spent playing racquetball, softball, and a handful of other sports, I took up golf in my late 30s. Directly after college, I began actively working to build a successful career in finance. I did that for 42 years without a break. I recently retired from the corporate environment and now serve as CFO for Team Med Global. This transition from corporate to small business has allowed me the opportunity to work on small projects around the house and join a golf league.

What makes your heart sing?
All of the adventures Donna and I enjoy with our professional travels, but also the trips we’ve taken with our many nieces and nephews over the years. When they were young, we took four or five at a time to Six Flags, water slides, miniature golf, sleepovers, fine dining, fast food take out, church, and shopping. We always enjoyed these experiences as much as they did.

What’s your dream vacation spot?
We’ve been to Hawaii a few times, and I’d go there again in a heartbeat. Snorkeling and seeing brilliantly colored fish up close are things we can’t find in the Midwest. Right now, we’d like to delve in Donna’s heritage and travel to Ireland.

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
Donna and her loving family have helped me become more verbally expressive and outgoing. I am a person of action. I am a natural leader and a take charge, sort of “dig-in type of individual.” I get things done!

Which historical figure do you most admire?
While growing up, it was John F. Kennedy. I was a young person and he seemed to be smart, young, and ambitious. There was a sense of calmness and sophistication about him. In fact, during my valedictorian address at my high school graduation, I gave a brief, powerful speech using a quote from President Kennedy.

Which living person would you most like the opportunity to meet?
Clint Eastwood. He’s done it all using his talent, his brains, quiet humor, and courage. He’s 90 years old and still making movies and following his passion.

What legacy do you want to leave the world?
I hope I don’t leave for a while! I’d like to leave a legacy of generosity and kindness. That’s what we’re here for. I have a great partner that assists me, as well.

What’s your most treasured childhood possession that you still have?
My memories! I was raised on a farm by loving parents and siblings. I have a solid Catholic faith, I possess a strong work ethic, I know how to have fun, I love sports, and I still have my high school valedictorian trophy to this day. I am very proud of all that represents.
